During the last years the State of Chile following a world trend, is making efforts to modernize the Chilean energy matrix, which is why it has given much emphasis to the generation of energy through ERNC (Renewable Non-Conventional Energies).
There are currently 2,864 MW of installed capacity in NCRE with a total capacity of 20,274 MW in March 2016, which corresponds to 14% of total installed capacity.
At present, even though NCREs account for only 5% of the energy matrix, the authorities launched a plan for 2025 of the energy matrix to be based on ERNC by 2025.
